It depends on the gearing, I’ve driven some cheap commuter cars where a 5mt was fine. But my Miata? Jesus christ, 5th gear on the highway gets you to like 4500 rpms! its loud enough with the wind noise, but the engine drone on the highway is horrible. It needs a 6th gear like no other.

5 reverse, 8 to the right, 3 to the left, 24 forward.
