Obviously not on the level of a black woman, but people have been saying for years how they were sick of Taylor Swift always crinkling her hair. Entertainment blogs practically rejoiced when she started straightening it for red carpet events

I think it always looks better after a few days when it spreads out. I say give it a try. I think twist outs look best on thick hair.

And this is why I chose sisterlocks when I finally decided to go natural. The marathon detangling and condition sessions were just way too unreasonable for me. With my locks I just spray 'em with water and oil and head on out

Maybe you should look for actresses who model. There are a lot of black actresses who wear their hair natural but wear wigs to auditions.

Trust, someone will find a non-black woman using the term "kinky" offensive.

Ah the hater cut. That brings back memories.

I'm right there with you. As soon as my locks are fuller and longer that's the first thing I'm gonna do to 'em.

And if its none of those things its the way she talks. Does she speak proper English? Well why? Does she think she's white? Is she hood and therefore authentic? Then why is she actin' so ghetto? She's embarrassing the community! *sings ala MJ* You can't wiiiiiiin!

Not everyone finds a satin cap comfortable. I've always worn something on my head before going to bed even before going natural so I don't know anything else but my sis who still wears weaves covers her pillows with satin. She's never been more comfortable. Plus, the fuller your hair gets, the harder it'll be gettin'

Thank you. But especially in the natural hair world. These are the same women who will preach to women with processed hair that they're buying into a Eurocentric ideal when it seems they're doing the same thing themselves in this situation.

Replying to promote and co-sign. Especially because right after dealing with the hate from people who think the only way a black woman can wear her hair is processed, you turn around and now have to deal with some naturalistas who don't approve of your hair because of something out of your control: your hair's texture.

Ohhhh you'd be surprised. I'd love to witness him or her gettin' torn down though.

And clearly she's doin' something right because everyone else loves her too. Its just these small pockets of so-called experts on natural hair that are trying to tear her down for not having perfectly textured hair.

Because it isn't long and straight. Did you know that it used to be legal to fire a black women if she wore her hair any other way than straight and processed? A bunch of women had to get together and sue. Of course, what with the job market the way it is now, employers are looking for reasons not to hire people and

There is a nail sportin' a headache cuz of you, cuz you hit it. I absolutely believe that whole "good hair" mentality continues in the natural hair world. When I saw some women sporting absolutely gorgeous natural hair it made me really really wanna pursue it, but then I was reminded that your racial makeup does

And the church said, "AMEN."

THANK YOU FOR THIS. These are the same women who were lavishing her with praise when she was wearing wigs (which were GAWJUS btw). Now they're tearing her down for actually showing off her hair? There's constructive criticism and then there's a slaughter, and these women committed the latter.

I just snorted like a piglet. Thank you for that.

Yep. It makes us look more exotic, I think, and that's why casting directors are more likely to pick them. When I temped at a talent agency, a good chunk of the sistas were natural but would wear wigs for a role if the director wanted her to have processed hair.

Pretty much. And these'll be the same women telling you you like the type of hair you like because of society but oh, if your hair doesn't look like oh say Amel Larrieux's just learn to love the hair you have.
