The specs get better everytime. For example, some of the phones have CPU clock speeds that were the same as the previous generation, but they have newer CPUs that still outpace the old ones.

I think people buy them for BBM. At my school, everyone, EVERYONE, that owns a Blackberry (most of the school body) uses it for BBM, and that's about it. It's like they forget you can make calls on it.
