If my accountant murdered two random people, came back to his office to meet with me and do my taxes, and then went out to murder four more people, that middle part about him doing my taxes would be relevant if only because it’s so atypical of a mass murderer.

Or maybe its not aimed at the people that aren’t early adopters and don’t have decent PC’s to begin with. You’re taking issue with the ‘early adopter’ thing, but thats precisely it.

Would you rather they put $200- $300 worth of substandard tech that inside these headsets ? Id rather they make an expensive machine that enthusiast will buy and the price will slowly lower over time than make a machine that will be cheap joke of a headset just so that a larger group of people pick it up and return it

You can’t compare VR of the 90s to what we have today. Remember when MS launched tablets and it failed? It was too early, the tech wasn’t where it needed to be. Maybe I should’ve said first gen of something viable instead.

The same was said about VHS players, DVD players, flat screen TVs/monitors, cell phones, digital cameras etc etc etc. It’s the _first gen_, of course it’s going to be expensive.

About what? Kicking Rift’s ass? We knew it was going to cost more, it’s a lot more impressive. $800 is a lot of money, but if the Rift is going to cost $600, $800 for the Vive is a steal.

That’s why they include little paragraphs explaining who the people are.

I wish io9 would write about The Magicians so I’d have a place to bitch about The Magicians.

Oooh, you’re so edgy.

Christ, don’t fucking read it, then.

That whole series of scenes were weird. Because I immediately went “Holy shit it’s Miles and Matt Parkman!” and that’s all I could think any time they were on screen. But only those two.

I can’t say I’ve heard anyone suggest before that the absurdly detailed (and time-wasting) leader-loops were a positive allocation of development resources.

Im not usually one to complain about women dress scantily, but damn I just can’t take her seriously.

If it were a non-issue, Grayson wouldn’t have written the above post. He’s also not the only one that has had an experience like this due to the stimuli. As I said above, some people just can’t comprehend the feeling until they experience it, regardless of their time with 90's arcade VR games.

I have roughly the same amount of experience with recent VR technologies as you do, but I guess you’ll win on that front because I don’t list such personal information about myself using my Burner.

You sound like you’ve never used one for any significant amount of time...

There is something viscerally different to using an explosion too close to one’s avatar and the act of moving one’s arm in such a way that the gun is pointing at one’s own head. And the experience of VR, which is an almost total experiential immersion (if you haven’t yet had the opportunity to try a system out, I

Books from GRRM are never late, and are never early. They arrive precisely when they mean to.

When I’m watching porn I don’t give a shit about creativity. I just want to jizz in a rag and go to sleep.
