Working in games, I’ve become a pro at layoffs. I always keep my resume up to date. I don’t bring personal items to decorate my area. I instantly sign up for unemployment insurance. I start reaching out to my network. Pretty simple stuff but it’s not the end of the world, usually.

I usually never ask for substitutions or replacements or whatever. The only thing I usually ask for is no cilantro in pho and no beans in burritos.

I have worked QA. And it can be rewarding and interesting. And it sucks that the people you’ve met in QA have only been either unhappy or uninspiring. Can it be a dead end? Yes, 100%. But saying the only reason to get into QA is to use it as a stepping stone is not true.

After working for a bunch of companies in Silicon Valley, if they don’t offer free food, I will eventually microwave fish in the office.
They could be middle class. Bought the house 20 years ago when it was affordable and then turned out to be 1.5 mil 20 years later.
I saw those prices and thought those prices were really low for a really exclusive area. I live in Silicon Valley and regular houses are 1 mil.
I think it’s more about the message. Don’t want people getting rebellious thoughts.
