I’d absolutely make the argument they were bad guys. They were perfectly willing to sacrifice a child, without her consent, to further their goals. You can argue if their goals are noble. Personally, as presented in the game, I didn’t feel humanity was worth saving. Certainly not worth Ellie’s life.
I was all about Crash and Spyro as a kid, but I never considered either to be a mascot like Mario or Mickey Mouse. They were just fun games and I think they both hold up well today, even without nostalgia goggles. Especially Spyro. If Vicarious Visions is doing this remake, maybe they’ll do one for Spyro too?
I think Joel in the trailer was a figment of her imagination and this whole scene was her going to avenge his death, the game being just Ellie with some flashbacks of their relationship between the games.
He’s not quite a villain. Things aren’t black and white in the last of us, he’s a complicated character who did awful things but he’s not just a straight up “villain”, most of what he did could be chalked up to losing everyone he loved and not being able to trust anyone after being betrayed and cheated so many times…

if you were a stockholder you would have been pissed if they didn’t cut the huge expensive gamble of making AAA videogames for the super low investment with super high returns VLT/pachinko machine industry. Pleasing the stakeholders over the consumers is exactly why they did what they did.
never forget
This gives me a lot of things to think about for the series as a whole and I just want to let you know that you’re great.
I wish they would charge for it at this point. They deserve it.
Yeah, fuck Nintendo for not adhering to my every whim and wish. Fuck Nintendo for making me play as a *barf* guy, even though that’a how the character has been for 20 years. How dare they. How. Dare. They.
Nintendo game ported to PC...?
Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games just released a gorgeous new trailer for the game’s upcoming expansion (and Shovel Knight prequel), Specter of Torment, at the Game Awards. It will be available for free in Spring, 2017.
Obligatory: Fuck Konami.
Clearly, the baby has a finished copy of Silent Hills stored in its mind, which GdT is attempting to smuggle away from Konami, who has hired Mads to kill him.
