Racist is appropriate.  Just because they don’t think they’re being racist doens’t mean it isn’t.  And it’s much more dangerous when a Dr, officer, boss, politician have “unconscious race bias” because it affects people’s lives negatively and even causes death.

It’s far from irrelevant, it doesn’t matter that the purpose wasn’t to exclude black people when that’s the overarching end result. It’s not just poor people, doctors often treat black patients differently and that gets wrapped into the algorithm so there’s still a disparity between simply poor, and poor and black. 

Classism and racism in this country are inextricably linked. You’re not doing anyone any favors by ignoring that.
