I got a 1998 Buick LeSabre from my grandfather in 2010 when he bought a new car; and 4 years after taking it over, it runs even better than the day I got it. Sure, I had to put in about $3000 worth of maintenance in it over that time, but it's so worth it. It's still costing me almost nothing to run, and I've learned s

I hadn't read this comment before I replied to your first one; and yeah unfortunately there are a lot of spoiled brats who have no concept of responsibility. It's a very sad state of affairs...

I have serious doubts about this. In five years, you'll still have a full warranty on the car; you probably won't have to change the tires yet, and do people really ignore oil changes? I'm 22 and get my oil changes at the manufacturer-recommended intervals; because I care about my car. And I have little reason to be

I dislike it slightly less now.

I mean, obviously it's not going to magically become as fast as a later generation device, but it's good enough to keep using it until apple kills off support for it.

I've been using the 7.1 betas and now the final release on my 3rd generation iPad, and it definitely has made a difference; to the point where I'm no longer entertaining the idea of buying a new one. They got rid of a lot of that jerkiness and dropped frames that plagued the experience previously, and the app

Less downforce and more torque; hopefully we'll have more scenes like this one from years past then.

You're twisting my words. At this point in time it's not worth it; spending $700 on a monitor that maxes out at 30Hz is a waste of money, as far as I'm concerned.

Of course someone had to turn this into an argument.

You make a strong argument there; if I remember right, over 98% of all scientists in the US identify as not being religious; and I'm sure that's comparable to doctors.

I know that feeling; and there isn't much of a way around it. I try and wait for the warm days that pop up here and there. Even in the ridiculous cold of January of this year, there were still a couple of days where the temperature was above 0C. That's the only solution, unfortunately.

This kind of media BS makes for a good headline, but there's no truth to it. Unless his manager said it, it can be safely concluded that it wasn't said at all.

I've lost all patience for telemarketers. If I answer the phone and say hello, and don't immediately get a reply; then I know it's a telemarketer and I just hang up, because real people react more quickly than a telemarketer mass calling people.

If this was a contract job, there isn't anything to be surprised about here; even to the people that got laid off.

One of my favorite things about summer is being able to wash my car outdoors. Even if you're not much of a gearhead, washing your car is still satisfying because it looks great after you're done (well, assuming you understand how to wash a car properly. Lifehacker, maybe that merits a post?)

This isn't as bad though; because to the majority of people, these are just a random combination of numbers. But when Mercedes specifically puts a badge on the car saying it has a 6.3L engine when it doesn't, that, IMO, is worse; because it's a straight lie.

Car washes are essential during the winter months. All the salt and other disgusting stuff that ends up on the road makes direct contact with the underside of your car; and giving it the chance to work its way into every corner means that you're going to end with with rust on your hands.

Both take excellent pictures in their own right. There was a time when cell phones took abysmal pictures, but since probably around 2010, they now take pictures that can be considered good. Not to say you're going to get a picture on your iphone printed and framed, but good enough to show someone that new expensive

I wonder if this was a fully road-ready car, or if it was some non-functional shell with an engine proxy under the hood. Because a mint condition Bel Air seems too valuable to crash for a video with little practical value.

It's very weird how they've progressively removed features over time, as evidenced by how much more advanced the very out-of-date Windows version of Airport utility is.
