My grandma was very unhappy when they brought in Jan Hooks on Designing Women- said the show would not be the same. Eventually she warmed up to her- she said "well I will be fried if that woman doesn't just kind of sneak up and grow on ya!"

I loved Jan Hooks, when I became aware of SNL she was in her prime. I saw the 30 Rock mothers day episode some years ago and just had a feeling that she wasn't doing to well. She was quietly subversive. Much love Jan.
