Sorry but I don't agree with you. The game was linear, sure, but it still gave you a good amount of exploration (some "dungeons" did have alternative routes, not a lot, but a few did) and it did have loads of things to do outside of the story (Blitzball and the side quests... the unbelievably tough side quests).
