Oh no, I'm with you there, loving it too. Personally however (and I know lots of people will probably flame me for this), but I always loved FFX, more than any other of the games.

I think he does realise it. I think he changed his opinion, once computers were powerful enough to practically render everything, he could save a jack-load of time. Making Ep. 4-6 was supposely plauged by dozens of problems with the special effects, mechanics, and what not.

In a sense, it is cliché, but you have to look at the bigger picture. In saving Ellie, what did Joel accomplish? That the world could never be cured, and that the disease would always be there. That not entirely cliché, that's actually pretty surprising.... At least, in my opinion.
