I use my S3 with cyanogenmod 10.1 for this very reason. I could survive with sense/touchwiz but I could survive with iOS too... and just "surviving" is pointless when you can actually enjoy the device.

"He loves finding guys like you,"

Razer seems to be pretty hit and miss. And from what I understand, build quality has gone way down hill.

Agreed. I doubt you'll find the source of refurb per item (open box and returned for no reason? or had issues? demo unit? oh dear god most demo units are worn to shit) which means you are gambling unless you have a way of knowing the prior history.

In windows 7 and windows 8 i launch apps by hitting windows key then typing the name of the app.

This was what I was thinking. Has all the drawbacks of PC gaming, with the added downside of still having to put the disc in the system to play.

Thats actually the guitars being tuned.

Well clearly the message I gave was a brief exaggeration. But heck, I'd even cut the "less than optimal version" part (as there would still need to be customizations for it) and add a part about IE9 being released in 2011 (which adds to the point that IE8 has been obsolete for 2 years even).

Different apps tend to have different reasoning. A lot of the stuff our internal apps try to do simply do not work with IE8. We could get into a lot of really messy workarounds and such, but rather than devote time to IE8 dedication, we were in a position to demand HTML5 compliance (and one of the devs was using a mac

Thats a valid excuse to not upgrade IE, but thats not a valid excuse to use IE. Chrome and firefox work wonderfully on windows XP. (Unless your business has application lockdowns). My company recently upgraded the entire enterprise to windows 7.

No. Like I said, its about opinion overall, but those are prime examples of extremes. The rules I provided were not really rules, but generalization. People rarely go "not now mom! i gotta get to a save point!" for something like solitaire or minesweeper. But you get a lot of "im almost done, let me [finish this

In landscape, 1280x720 should be enough to trigger any width detection stuff in the CSS/JS. The only thing then might be if its detecting for mobile specifically... in which case requesting desktop should fix that. Chrome mobile is so sweet.

Now that you mention it, every computer in my company was recently updated to windows 7, so now the "Windows XP cant have IE9" excuse doesnt work anymore. Ive been keeping my win7 work laptop on IE8 so I could troubleshoot when people run into trouble (people could be stuck on IE8 because of XP, not their fault). but

have you tried chrome is "request desktop site" or is it a flash page?

Control-alt-delete shutdown button in the bottom right corner. Its actually a bit faster if you do it that way technically. Not worse, just different. (And theoretically, more logical. control-alt-delete menu is where power controls should be)

yeah. wasnt the biggest issue about the "World of Starcraft" starcraft MMO mod the fact that they used the name starcraft?

The definition varies from person to person and everyone argues about it even if they agree.

You wouldnt mount a tv like that on the wall. thats the point of it being innovative. it changes the way you use your tv. (even though I doubt thats what it is)

Transparency doesnt address new shape though. someone commented somewhere that a swivel tv that becomes "art" when vertical sounds believeable (addresses timeless gallery design). 16:10 sounds about like the appropriate mona lisa aspect ratio (or close enough).

Ive yet to encounter a program that works on win 7 but not 8. Unless you count old 16 bit programs (and the last native 16 bit windows was windows 3.1), but I dont have any of those. And they dont work in 64 bit windows 7/vista/xp (and yes, I used xp64) either. So unless companies decide that capping out at 4gb of ram
