Ray and Frank decimating the bad guys was a great scene, but let's be real: Paul would have done that, by himself, in half the time. Guy was a god warrior.

His message never sent. And considering the year time skip in the epilogue, and how long it might take for the reporter to get his story out, Chad, Ray's ex, everyone really, thinks he died a corrupt and murderous criminal.
There are two solaces from the downer ending: 1) That the LA Times reveals the full story. And 2) Knowing that Geldof has no way of beating Jerry Brown in the gubernatorial election (Brown's aura smiles and never frowns).
Ani and Jordan walking the earth as a badass girl team, with Nails as their aide, would be great show.
That last shot of the message failing to send was just the biggest gut punch. Pizzolato and Crowley twisted the knife.
Zod ****ing damn it. Damn it all. That was amazing and gut-wrenching. Damn you Pizzolato, Crowley, Vaughn, Farrell, McAdams, Reilly, face of Kitsch.
ADDENDUM!
On a related note, there's a cool interview with Kitsch on HBO after the episode. It sadly confirms that Paul the God Warrior is dead, but does explain where the scars come from. And Kitsch also thinks that Paul was the most competent of the detectives. Haha, YES!
Ray's pause was great as well. You could just read "Oh, shit" across his face.
Seriously. Ani and Ray may have gone out and interviewed some big suspects, but Paul was doing the dirty work, analyzing paperwork, finding documents, leads, and more. And he was the god warrior. Without him, those two are in trouble.
I was calling him Evil Knockoff Damian Lewis, but this works better.
*Frank Semyon lies in bed, staring at the ceiling*
Frank: "I knew a guy. Out east. Drug dealer, he had ambitions like me. Started taking classes, reading up on business. Couldn't escape the streets. I swore that wouldn't happen to me."
*gets of out bed, burns down a casino, collects wishlist of weapons*
Agreed. I was worried he'd be killed by a sniper or something. That was really open ground.
Seriously. Dude drank beers at the race track, the whiskey from his flask, then was downing whiskey doubles inside the Lux. No wonder he was massively hungover in the morning.
Oh! Since Davis was apparently killed with one of Ray's spare guns (likely by Burris, who knew where to look), want to bet Burris shot Paul with one of Ray's guns as part of a further frame up?
He's a wanted man, so likely.
"He was a fucking…god warrior out there" was awesome. And accurate.
He wouldn't even need the flashbangs.
Finale prediction: *Ani, Frank, and Ray are pinned down between Osip's goons and Ares goons* Ray: "I wish we had Paul right now."
A binge of this season will likely be pretty awesome.
