Well, concrete. Unless the homeless guys in the tunnel take him first, that's going to be a messy situation in the morning. It is Downtown LA.
He had a pool of blood spreading from near his head, but it didn't look like he got headshot. Sadly, he's still likely dead.
Apparently that was a falsehood/rumor that stuck around?
That was a plothole. If Paul was running through the tunnels (which, I've read a lot on, they were a network, not a one-way one), there should be multiple exits. No way Burris would figure out which.
Vaughn, in a black suit, armed with assault rifles with grenade launchers (what he purchased), is going to fuck up Osip and co.
John Carter didn't die, he just went back to Mars to become the Warlord.
That and the "everything is fucking" lines are the only two bad lines that I cannot defend.
The only bad line in the episode.
Cousin Avi called his LA cousin, who employs badasses. Nice Jewish badasses.
First episode aside, this season's been strong and only gotten stronger. Last week was my favorite episode of True Detective, any season, and this beat it.
Blake the scheming sleezeball body.
He's arming up big time, with assault rifles and grenade launchers purchased from the non-Ruskie eastern european bakery gangsters. I suspect he can't use that all himself. Velcoro might be conscripted. Ani too.
The direction this episode was incredible. The action scene, Frank taking out Blake, and Ray discovering Davis dead were all very well shot. It all adds to, what you pointed out, the amazing paranoia lingering overhead.
This week's clues (I'm sick and will rewatch in the morning to catch anything I might have missed, and then update this):
And it said "Frank's a Boss."
I think that ticket was Nails, not Frank. Frank is gambling big time, high odds he doesn't make it, but with a big reward if he does.
Staying together with a ruined carpet = sweet.
Keily Riley's been an underrated element this season. And I loved her rapport with Vaughn. After their basement fight and then sofa and TV make up, they've been great. I mean, she was ready to cap Velcoro during the coffee standoff. Her quip to Ray in the Casino was wonderful.
He went out like a Godwarrior.
