I’m confused. The new 5 series will have a G10 chassis code. Why does the M variant have an F90 chassis code? The new 5 will ride on a new platform derived from the G01 7 series, you would think that the M variant would also have a “G” chassis code.

Yeah, but nowadays, at least for the A3/A4/A5, the S model seems to just be the up-engined version of the base car. For example, there used to be 2.0t and 3.0/3.2 variants of the A4, in addition to the S4. But the “regular” 6 cylinder A4 is now gone, and the S4 seemingly has taken its place.

Is there anywhere I could download a hi-res wallpaper sized version of the leading image (passing Emirates Stadium)? That is an awesome picture.

These new “AMGs” are what used to be called “AMG Sport”, a fancied up trim line of their regular cars.

I love that Northrop Grumman is still carrying the torch for flying wings.

Apple has been doing this for a long time, I remember how their Sherlock app in OS 9/early OS X was nearly identical to a third party app called Watson. It peeved me at the time because I had paid money for Watson.

My understanding is that an “automatic pistol” = a self loading pistol (that fires semi-auto). Hence the letter “A” for automatic in the name of certain cartridges, like .45 ACP (an old example) or .45 GAP (a newer cartridge). The “automatic” refers to the automatic loading of cartridges, not that the are necessarily

They put it where the the middle row seats would normally stow. Since the competition doesn’t have stow-and-go for the middle row, it’s no great loss, packaging wise, compared to the competition.

Indeed. I still read TTAC but I find TTAG to be terrible, and removed it from my list of RSS feeds last year.

Robert Farago’s review of the Subaru B9 Tribeca, wherein he described its nose as a “flying vagina”. It was originally posted in the SF Chronicle, and got him fired from there.

I’ve always called the Tu-160 the B-1ski, though the Tupolev is actually quite a bit larger.

Agree with others that the FF is a really good looking car.

Heh yeah I love my X5-is-a-diesel, which apparently passed with flying colors when tested by WVU.

True story, in 1999 I was young and upwardly mobile and professional and was all set to buy an B5 era A4, probably in that white pearl that was so popular back then. My sales guy was previously from the VW side of the dealership, and he had sold me two previous Passats (a B3 and B4). He straight up told me to go back

Just like retrofit HID or “HID” bulbs, the bulb/reflector assembly needs to be engineered as a unit, and just retrofitting LEDs probably won’t be as effective.

Like an axe that’s had its handles and heads replaced numerous times, how much of today’s Atlas is really related to the Atlas of the ICBM days and the Mercury program? First they replaced the stage-and-a-half engine assembly with RD-180s, then they changed how the first stage was made. Doesn’t seem like much is left

The high rear end kinda looks Aztec-y to me.

Slick Willie’s executive order means the military can’t sell surplus ammunition. Instead it’s broken down into brass, powder, and bullets, all of which are sold commercially in bulk and readily available. Military 5.56 is some of the best 5.56/.223 brass you can get and cheap.

That is the classiest delivery lady I’ve seen.

You would think that as a lawyer you’d point out and emphasize that gun laws vary widely from state to state. Many states don’t require any registration whatsoever and the biggest issue will be the grieving widow not being ripped off.
