Tim Sweeney is definitely one of those billionaires that’s using Dystopian fiction like Ready Player One and Snow Crash as instruction manuals. So no surprise that he’s involved in this, it’s a bit weirder that Sony is chasing it too but I think/hope they might just want the technology.

As for Ranni’s ending, it’s ambiguous but you have to remember her guiding souls using the stars, isn’t out of line with Carian beliefs.

Ranni’s ending seeks to basically shed mortal shells and guide souls using the stars throughout the Cosmos, possibly bodiless or with similar endings as stones like many of Sellen’s victims/followers.

I also included Zorayas(I’m omitting her more used name) because she can set off on an adventure like Jar Bairn does. It’s a terrifying prospect, but it’s what she wants and if it works out it’s a happy ending.

I think there are at least three. Five if you count NPCs that are already dead and horrifying disfigurement. I think you can keep Boc alive too and another voluntarily becomes a spirit during her quest, but has an otherwise happy ending. And I think Roderica survives too?

He’s aligned with the Golden Order which are basically the bad guys though? Like the Greater Will doesn’t exactly come across as a heroic force, they’re just clinging to a status quo that’s already broken and that all of the Empyreans and possibly Marika herself seem to be rebelling against.

But if you’re looking for a traditionally heartbreaking Souls narrative, well, look no further than this weird little dude.

The Radahn v Malenia tie is a weird one, because what we see of it is her sacrificing everything to get a hit in on both of them and blooming. Basically using her sword to drive her rotten blood into him I’m guessing.

I’ve been doing this. I’m playing these games to have fun progressing and making the character I want. I don’t need pvp considerations in my life.

If someone replaced Renala and her egg with that woman and the Bee from Bee Movie I’d chuckle at least once.

The vibe feels a little different, but I don’t care enough about soulsborne lore to clearly identify why. I think it’s because the world feels a bit more lively, but that could be down to it being an open world thing. It's also the first time to world got fucked, which is kind of a novelty I think.

I guess I’m glad I found it early and abused it while I could, I will say that it having such high dps for such a low FP cost was a problem though. The nerf was well deserved especially since the second tick seemed to be able to hit twice on some bosses. Sad if it’s fully useless now though.(I haven’t tried it yet)

The fact that they kind of played that off as a joke is high on the long list of things I didn’t like about Cyberpunk 2077.

Please, all these cheap subscription companies are doing the same thing: Running at a loss to gain “market share” with the idea that eventually their dominant position will let them make incredible profits. Just because it hasn’t really worked out yet doesn’t mean that it isn’t concerning that almost every single time…

One small correction, the roadmap they’re getting rid off isn’t the new one announced in 2020(called the “progress tracker”), it’s the older one they kept at the time(the “release view”). They’ve basically had 2 seperate ways to look at the roadmap these past 6 quarters, now they’re cutting most of the older one out.

Yeah I think the technology/expertise might actually be the main reason for Sony as the Jim Ryan quote said. They don’t do live service games right now, at all, being able to branch into those with a first party publisher could be a huge win for them.

Well that’s their end game goal, but they still need to compete with existing infrastructure right now. Which is also why they’re making these purchases to cut off their competitors. Its double nice because sony doesn’t have the infrastructure to compete on streaming and Stadia doesn’t have the library.
