Here’s what I think you aren’t getting. To be qualified to be a resident, requires MUCH more work and dedication and years of experience and responsibility.

For you and me maybe its not enough. (I am assuming that you like me has had options in life). There are many jobs were people get berated and yelled at, many of which pay less. For what it is, for someone to earn 2x or more the median income of Americans to pamper to their needs is MUCH less difficult that the…

Like I wrote to someone else. I do think its a shit job, and I do think that it is difficult. My point is more that in context, its a steal. There are people working for far less, doing shitty hours with zero other prospects.
The job is also hard because of time and treatment not because it is technically hard.

I don’t doubt that it is difficult. But how difficult is it REALLY? A doctor doing his or her residency earns much less than that and that is after close to a decade of higher education, and they work stupid ours with stupid responsibility. (and can be on this salary for years).

I have no experience, but I would imagine that “coddling a high-maintenance person.” is far easier than the majority of jobs that people in the world have to deal with for far less money.
