I think you missed the "this is how old I am" part. If she could only find one female OB/GYN in the phone book, we're talking about way back in the ancient days. Maybe even as ancient as when I was a teen...and condoms were _not_ easy to find at the corner store.

I was the first of my friends and family to get married and have kids, and my daughter has been _dying_ to be a flower girl since she was 4 years old. At least 5 close friends and relatives promised her directly that when they got married she could be the flower girl, but then one by one they had child-free weddings

Well, the author was identified as a "professor of sociology" and the post was reprinted from "Sociological Images", which I assume is not a gossip blog. I certainly should have just called out the author specifically for all her "I think..." speculation, but it's not quite the same as BS by an non-credentialed

I didn't see any "study" cited in this article. I saw a lot of speculation and sentences starting with "I think".

I have a PhD in astrophysics (and a husband who makes a ton of money), but apparently my sneakers (and the flats I wear the two times a year I put on a dress) make me "low status". This would come as news to my friends and neighbors. Keep working on that scientific credibility, sociology!
