I said this in another article on Stadia, but the ideal way for this to work would have been to include a PC copy of the game. I know that kind of flies in the face of what they’re trying to do, but at least then you would own something.

I would be all in on Stadia if I could buy bundle versions. Like how Amazon sometimes bundles the audio version of a book so you get both for just a little bit more.
I would pay more for a PC/console version of a game if it came with the Stadia version too and the saves worked between them.
I was part of the beta…
I like those kind of games too, I just gotta be in the right mood, and I rarely ever finish them. I think I put 12 hours into No Man’s Sky. A few long summer evenings grinding for space rocks was nice, but I don’t feel compelled to go back to it. I also got it for like 10 bucks, so I don’t feel any of that “crap I…
Whoa that Return to Oz trailer just unlocked some memories that I had apparently locked deep down in the basement of my mind. That movie totally creeped me out and weirdly fascinated me as a kid! And now, thanks to Disney+, my own children can have nightmares about the wheelers!
What I’m getting is if you like quirky weird gameplay systems, this game is doing some interesting stuff you might want to check out. If you like Kojima’s writing, that’s whip cream on top, if you don’t like his writing...it’s something you’ll have to put up with.
My kids, who are 8 and 5, aren’t allowed to play games during the week (up until Friday afternoon). On the weekends they can go ham and play as much as they want after whatever chores or errands are done. They also do not have my password, so even if they played games with micro transactions (they don’t really), they…
Heh, I’m the same with Jeff. If he hates it I’ll probably enjoy it. But at the same time, if he really, really digs something, I might give it a shot. My tastes tend to align with Alex, but I couldn’t follow him down the Nier rabbit hole. I got halfway through the second play through and gave up. The gameplay was so…
It’s not really a twist. It’s more like...maybe you’re the bad guy? That sort of thing. It’s been done in movies and books a zillion times, but it was a first for a military style shooter at the time. Like I said, you just kind of had to be there. I’m not sure it’s worth playing through to experience now.
For Spec Ops, I think that was a “you had to be there” kind of game. At the time when it came out it seemed like just another mediocre military shooter. When it turned out to actually say something with its story, people were shocked. That shock kind of built up this hype over time that does the actual game a…
I think that’s a fair critique of the review. The weird gameplay and world building is what has me intrigued here, and it’s why I’d try the game out if it came to a service like GamePass or Playstation Plus. But I can’t spend money on those Kojima quirks anymore, they annoy me too much, and I know I wouldn’t play…
I think you’re right. And I think that’s why I kinda fell off the Kojima train. When the first MGS came out I was in like 8th grade, I thought it was amazing! But I grew up and my tastes changed, and his style stayed the same. So there’s totally some of that personal bias in there for me too. Like listening to music…
Oh yeah...pour one out for Blockbuster. I finally got an Xbox One (used via Craigslist) back at the beginning of the summer and I got Gamepass with it. Between that, Playstation Plus’ free games and Apple Arcade, I can’t see myself spending $60 on a game any time soon.
Yeah, I figured it would. The folks on the Giant Bomb east crew seemed pretty down on it over all. I think those that bothered to finish it settled on “it’s worth experiencing, but I cannot recommend it without a ton of caveats.”
I miss these kind of games too. They were the games you picked up as your second or third choice at Blockbuster that sometimes ended up being pretty good.
I played through all of the challenges in seasons 7 and 8, but haven’t touched it since, and this has me thinking about coming back and trying out whatever happens next.
You’re right, but it’s also prime “I don’t care about anyone but myself and my own interests” age. No need to use mental illness or being in a different country as an excuse. You were a teenager! In 2000, right here in America, I was 15 and my top concern was setting high scores in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2. I mean, I…
Yeah as someone who mainlined the story, I was getting pretty burned out toward the end. There’s a lot to do in the game, but just about every mission involves shooting guys, and the shooting just doesn’t feel good enough for it to be the main activity you engage in.
I did initially. I was five hours in and really thought about dropping it. Instead I just did story missions. No hunting, no bounties, not a single side activity, I don’t even think I bought new guns. I just mainlined the story, and I really enjoyed it for that.
No, my mistake. I meant all the time.
Oh my god I feel this.
