Conservatives own because they'll take the effort to write letters to the editor of their podunk local newspaper to complain about seeing gay people kiss on TV. They got that old-fashioned can-do.

Mainstream metal is very masculine, and mainstream metal fans are overwhelmingly men. People who are overly concerned with masculinity and making sure people see them as masculine veer towards supporting authoritarianism.

I'm sure my own tastes will stagnate in the years to come. I'll be calling my grandkids posers for not listening to Carbomb.

I'm sure if I'd grown up in the '80 I'd have loved them too. I respect that they've influenced a lot of the bands I listen to now, but metal's evolved in a lot of exciting ways since then.
