The Conjuring 2 ($40 mil), Legend of Tarzan ($38 mil), Independence Day 2 ($41 mil) and The Purge: Election Year ($31 mil) all had lower opening weekends than Ghostbusters actually. Not sure where you are getting your numbers from. Unless maybe you are combining domestic and international box office totals. In which

yeah. Just like ID4 2, except better reviewed and making more money.

Yes. Its completely stand alone

MIKE HAT!

Wait. I saw it on Friday and laughed the whole time, but now that I know that none of them have penises I’m not sure if it is any good anymore. My gut is telling me it must be a garbage fire

It’s ok, just go see Ghostbusters next weekend and the Matriarchy will let you get away with only one demerit on your permanent record

Sony is optimistic about this because they are Sony. They’re currently a struggling studio unaccustomed to major hits, so for them this is pretty decent numbers. The movie is well reviewed and had the 9th best opening of the year so far and the best for Sony in 2016. It also had a better opening than Mad Max: Fury

I don’t know why we need this article. There’s already been a successful series of films that provide a historically accurate glimpse into the culture, traditions and lifestyles of ninjas that I’m willing to bet the vast majority of your readers have seen. I of course speak of 3 Ninjas, 3 Ninjas Kick Back, 3 Ninjas

ok merriam webster

coming from someone whose name implies a well developed penchant for snack foods, that is quite a complement op

Honestly? The 9 year old me who gleefully put his school lunch spaghetti on his school lunch white bread in the 90s would probably love to eat this.

That’s so awesome!

Sure, but part of the reason she’d rather play Minecraft is that Minecraft gives her agency and power that she can’t get from lots of other media.

I heard that the opening scene is a bit scary, mostly because it is filmed in a more suspenseful style, after that I bet it will be fine. I’m willing to bet it is a lot like Men in Black was in terms of scariness/violence/humor and I’m sure an 8 year old will be able to handle it if accompanied by an adult they know

Good news! There’s a dragon in Ghostbusters! One of the trailers gets you a glimpse of it

What I want to know is how all those people anonymously posting ratings on IMDB got in to see the prescreenings

I’m with you, although I am still willing to check out the slowly creeping up Fresh rating over on Rotten Tomatoes purely for gloating on the internet purposes. No spoilers there beyond that the film is pretty good.

Yeah, that’d be like crossing the streams or something

It was a boiling over of the mass hate that started when the cast was announced. The mediocre trailer gave a lot of people the cover they needed to express their true feelings without being called out for being chauvinist dinguses

You definitely are missing a few somethings, and I think it would be fair to expand the conversation beyond Marvel and beyond just writers as the opportunity to break into creative comics work in general is often what writers/artists of color have historically gotten from the existence of characters of color.
