I think, although I’ll admit that I’m not in any way a fan of the franchise in general, the outrage is because it looks like it is a huge pivot away from the straightforward military porn that fans of the franchise are into towards a pretty hard sci fi genre.
You mean like characters we hadn’t seen in the comics yet? I suppose that is true. I guess I could see a scenario where they intentionally debuted a new character in the movies and then transitioned her/him to the comics. They already sort of did it with Coulson and others
Except Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster isn’t really a popular character
Maybe Jane Foster will be in the movie, but in a space suit the whole time, and then they won’t even need Portman
Rhodey is the preferred spelling
Except do they really have to recast Iron Man ever? When RDJ gets too old for the part, can’t they just write Tony out of the MCU and focus on younger actors and newer properties? They’ve got so much to work with, do they really need to keep making Iron Man movies forever?
Except I think Jaime Alexander is stepping away from the films too because of TV commitments. Which, to me, leaves only one Thor character for a realistic romantic interest. Make it so Marvel
Yeah, they just need to write the character out. Maybe they can get Portman to show up for a dramatic and heroic death when Thanos touches down on Earth? Like she’s in Switzerland or wherever and Thanos shows up and starts destroying the city, she runs and tries to help people get away and a building collapses on her…
Ok, but who remembers Shakespeare in Love? I watched that movie like a zillion times as a teen
Meh, bored now. I’m glad that this game apparently has a plot and a decent single player campaign, but this obsession with making every game all about the multiplayer is getting extremely played out.
I don’t think Snyder is capable of understanding this
Agreed. Individual mileage with the idea may vary, but the MCU is a totally unprecendented thing in the history of film. This is major cinematic history that we are witnessing. What other studio in the history of Hollywood has been able to create a franchise of 13 hit movies that were also generally well reviewed…
Well, technically there was one instance where events from Agents of SHIELD had a big impact on the movies: Nick Fury gets the Helicarrier he uses in Age of Ultron from Coulson’s team. Of course, even then, all the effort to make that happen and fill in a plot hole from the film comes from the TV side.
I’ll get to the DC stuff. It’s currently just about May of 1984 for my rereading every Marvel comic after 1960, every DC comic after 1980 and a handful of indie stuff.
I sort of got turned off to Doc Savage by Marvel’s repeated attempts to make the property work both in black and white magazines and in color comics in the 70s. They just never clicked for me and it was annoying when I was reading all the 70s Marvel output that they kept on trying. Still, it will be interesting to see…
Gosh. Preacher is going to encourage my functional alcoholism the same way the comics helped inspire it in the first place isn’t it?
Of course, it would be nice if people would stop doing stupid things like swallowing their damned cell phones, but that’s probably too much to hope for.
Here’s my fan theory/head cannon until proven wrong:
