You know what? I'm not religious, but I hope getting into Jesus does help this guy turn his life around. Jesus, whether you believe he was a real or fictional or somewhere in between person, mostly said good shit. Hopefully reading and thinking about that good shit helps.

right like Glenn Beck in his heyday.

nothing is "up" with them. Human beings are just incredibly diverse and unique, and that's generally a good thing

Sounds like a typical boyfriend experience. You dump him, he doesn't stop texting trying to get you back because he can't understand rejection

This. I think this goes beyond any one media or lifestyle or hobby and gets more into psychological and philosophical realms. Human beings have perpetrated a lot of violence over the centuries, and masculinity has been tied to a person's capacity to commit violence in basically every culture worldwide. The questions

I think unfortunately the cops aren't going to take this stuff seriously until there have been multiple actual attempts on women's lives.

I think trying to frame the issue as a violence in video games things obfuscates the real issue. Video games marketed towards young men are violent and often misogynistic because the men making them and consuming them already have violent and misogynistic impulses. Video game developers don't create the market, they

Thanks Chief Kass. I'm sure this will stop all kids from recording themselves having sex forever. Message sent.

sorry, maybe my sarcasm didn't come across. I withdraw the comment

no, fuck our national racist society

I know that you don't really mean it that way, but as someone who knows a lot of people with diagnosed mental deficits and personality disorders, I just want to point out that none of them would do half of the shit Zimmerman has done. I just wanted to say something cause I think the language we use matters.

That's a false equivalency because men can spend money too

You are totally right. My issue is sometimes I feel bad, like if someone messages me and they seem super nice, but I'm just not interested

I'm planning on going to see A Most Violent Year this weekend specifically because of all the cool shit Jessica Chastain says. Its not normally a movie I'd be super interested in, but she's so awesome

Actually I'm taking a well trod philosophical argument that good cannot exist without evil because without evil to compare it to and applying it to suggest that a world where we view all people as good (or bad for that matter) is essentially the same as a world where we view all people as neutral (neither particularly

How so. If there were no bad people to compare to, how would you know if anyone was good? Aren't the the values good and bad inherently subjective and based on comparison? If everyone is "good" then how do we know they are "good" because there is no one who is different to compare them to?

You seem to be nitpicking. Aren't those two ideas functionally the same? If everyone is ethically on the same level, IE good, then no one is particularly better or worse than anyone else, in other words no one is good or bad. I mean if you want to insist that I pick one, then everyone is basically good.

Fair enough. I'm pretty committed to the idea that the more we try to separate people into categories of good guys vs bad guys instead of recognizing that some actions are good and others bad but all are committed by morally fallible human beings, the less progress we make at as a species

And a rapist is not a good person. Full stop.

I'm disappointed she didn't threaten to cunt punch anyone
