I think the sniper having SMG when not scoped and Sniper Rifle when scoped is just taking what’s in TF2 and combining the two to avoid having players swap weapons. Charging snipers was also in TF2. Mines have been go-to weapon of snipers in Battlefield, I remember them from BF2. But what the Paladins sniper throws…

Honestly I can picture almost every character from a moba. Someone said the hook is from overwatch, well look at pudge or whoever was in dota. Someone said the bow is, well look at any archer in any game ever. “Soldier 76 is”, from any OTHER fps.
