I had one, it was pretty awesome. Then it rolled 100k miles and needed almost every seal, bushing, and bearing replaced. It dropped in value like a rock.

I’d go with a mid roof Transit. They are pretty reliable, spacious, can be serviced just about anywhere, and there are lots of examples to look into for DIY projects. I was planning on building one myself, but I went with a travel trailer instead.
