I would hardly expect a modern BMW to not have significant engine maintenance at those mileage intervals. I know the one I had needed some around those points (2011 128i 6MT).

The biggest takeaway is that they will use significantly less cobalt. That is the biggest cost cutter and the biggest hurdle to clear when making them on a mass scale.

Not only is it the MX-3 GS, but it is a special edition one with that paint, SE only alloy wheels, and SE only black leather seats. This thing is indeed rare. If I hadn’t just bought a camper I’d be making some phone calls. I had a 92 MX-3 RS with the single cam 1.6L and it was still a blast.

The problem with this is that the car will never be “legal” from an EPA standpoint. According to their regulations, it is illegal to swap an older engine into a newer vehicle, regardless of how it emissions tests. I’m not saying I agree with this law, but it is on the books.
