Long production cycle you say? FCA says ‘here hold my beer’
Add me too!
I live near Buffalo NY, sure I don’t need the extra clearance, but I like having it. Plus I like having some tow rating to move my little trailer for dump days, teardrop camper, etc. So yeah, it boils down to this, I like my car, it works for me, and it doesn’t matter what everyone else’s opinion is. When I want to…
That’s what I was thinking. Perhaps it was too much to expect the answer to be in the article though.

David, can you elaborate as to why they perch the desirable cars atop shipping containers?
I forgot about those. It’s a shame putting them in the mirror didn’t catch on.
I love my CX5, when the snow flies, yeah I could drive a sports car and struggle with the feet of snow in the morning before work, I work so early I beat the plows most days, but the AWD and more ground clearance has been amazing. I haven’t even had to fire up the snow blower yet this year.
Interesting, my 2014 CX5 Touring has a touch screen. Did the sport get a lower tech radio option? Wouldn’t mind downgrading mine if anything ever craps out.
Looks like 2018 model year added the touch screen. Before that you got this:
Perhaps I thought you meant tacked on looking screen. But as far as screens on radios go, it’s pretty tiny and paltry. Brand new 2019 model with a stick, 40+ mpg, not tacked on looking screen for just a smudge under 12k USD. Plus I do believe these have the full warranty too. Not too shabby of a deal.
I’m pretty sure you might be able to get a base model mitsubishi mirage hatch.
If you ever get a chance to drive one, do it! They are so much more fun than 63 hp has any right to be.
They were definitely good “slow car fast” candidates. Throw a proper set of coil overs under them, and some aggressive rubber, it really wakes up the handling to the point where they start out pacing NA miatas in the corners (after adding a bit more power)
It’s a bit wide with the 1.8L DOHC (crank pulley to transmission tail pan). I would imagine since the ZETEC didn’t fit, the MZR would be pretty tough to work. The KLDE DOHC V6 was a good fit, but that car was already too far gone rust wise. Wouldn’t mind doing it again with one that was pristine underneath.
I did. They were cheap to buy, easy to fix, good on gas, and tossable like a go kart with a few tweaks. Plus the drivetrain was like a lego set with pretty much any Mazda B series engine. My favorite one was my first one. Swapped in a stronger manual transmission from an 88 mercury tracer, and the 1.8L SOHC 16…
Don’t tempt me. I want a Reflex Blue Mica Miata RF badly.
