I ended up at a fundraiser at some crazy north shore long island country club (through very weird circumstances) and i have the WHITEST picture ever of half the people at the table i was at all looking like brian williams in khaki pants, stripped shirts and navy blazers. It was like the uniform.

Hey Anna, this is not a criticism aimed at you, but at the next staff meeting maybe suggest that the site tweak the algorithm so that these sexually suggestive images don’t pop up under a serious story that’s (ostensibly) about the harassment and objectification of women?

Okay. I don’t want him to be in prison for the rest of his life. I want him to be out in society, but working a shitty job or two. So if you know a wizard or a genie who can grant that wish, more power to you. Because that isn’t something the state can demand - but they can force him to go to prison.

Yep. I started using an adblocker because the ads were so annoying (flashing colours, auto-play audio, pop-ups, etc) and for a while several legit sites I went to ended up running malware in their ads because the company they were using for that wasn’t screening properly. I’m not about to risk my account or computer…

The internet is like walking down a street that is well known for bad shit happening all the time, going without protection is just asking someone to come fuck with you.

How about when Yahoo had malware in its flash-ads. That was soo amazing...

I have no problem with ads in general. I don’t necessarily pay attention to them, but I don’t have to for them to “count” and it’s how YTers (for example) make money, so it’s whatever. An ad before a YT video or a small, noticeable but unobtrusive banner ad is fine.

I went to AdBlock when the ads became pervasive and web pages bogged down and froze when ad servers got constipated or whatever. The ad system abused consumers; I get ads shoved at me continually during the day. Enough.

He misses some very fundamental things, such as that plenty of the ads do not serve any productive purpose other than YoTube being able to say that they showed the ad to someone. I’m not going to drive to Russia to buy a product there just because YouTube shows me a commercial that I don’t understand to begin with. So…

Not to mention malware.
