The same stance was used by the Northern States earlier when they threatened secession over a different issue. And by the fact people used “the United States are” in language prior to the war and “the United States is” after.
Being considered a public health issue isn’t about scientific studies. It’s about government or societal regulation.

A publicity stunt basically means that the women did not qualify on their own merit. As in, the only way they could get in at all is because someone wanted to make headlines... and otherwise, they wouldn’t be there.

And with a lot of places, there’s an even worse attitude for the other parent. If you don’t have a child growing inside you, as far as they’re concerned you don’t have a right to take any time off to take care of it.
