It’s weird, I grew up in the early 2000's and I barely experienced any of the stuff people are talking about here. The worst thing I ever saw was cartoonish gore in flash games, and even that’s pretty tame. I think I was pretty lucky, not having to experience anything insane until I was older.

To be fair, there’s nothing wrong with paying for mods. Some of them are quite nice and their creators deserve something for the effort. But the way Valve handled it was very poor.

The art style and composition are great, and it’s all so imaginative.

I don’t know, have you seen Legend of Korra? That’s a recent cartoon, and it got seriously brutal, not in a cartoonish way, but in a realistic way. It was fucking amazing. There’s some crazy stuff going on in cartoons that are still running today as well, though I can’t think of anything off the top of my head.

That personal tragedy is an important part of this game though. It’s important that this fact is pointed out. It’s not meant to help sell the game, just to let people know.
