Again, all fine and well if you get the story without having to research the whole thing, but that doesn’t make it less difficult for the rest of us to comprehend it. Partially, if not entirely, because of the issues you mentioned. The story of Metal Gear is told in a messy way.

I have literally met people that believe these kinds of films are telling the truth, but in a storytelling fashion. That’s why.

Or maybe it’s because they don’t like the gameplay or story. Do you know why I don’t like games like Battlefield? Because I don’t like it! Do you know why Luke didn’t like The Witcher or Metal Gear? Probably because he didn’t like them.

That’s fair. I didn’t like some of the cliche anime stuff in Persona, but usually it handles itself pretty well in my opinion, so I think I’ll be able to live with Persona 5.

Sure, people will realize that at least some of it’s dramatized, but not everyone will. They’ll assume that this is what actually happened, because they’ve been led to believe that’s the whole point of this film.

For MGS5? Maybe. But as a whole, the Metal Gear series is all over the place. Most people agree on this. If you don’t have an issue with it, fine, but don’t say that Metal Gear is not convoluted just because you’re OK with it.

And what if a person understands that they don’t really like the majority of games in a franchise? It would make sense to assume that a new game in a franchise would be at least somewhat similar to the past games. Sometimes the changes the new game brings is enough to fix your past issues, but not always.

I mean, if it’s the next game in a franchise, and you didn’t like the past ones, isn’t it fair to assume that you won’t like the new installments?

Most people have to pay very close attention to understand Metal Gear, even the hardcore fans. The story of Ocelot alone is too much to handle. (what side is that asshole on?!)

Are you fucking kidding me? Do you realize how convoluted and insane the Metal Gear mythology is? I wouldn’t have it any other way, but seriously.

I used to hate JRPGs. And you know what? I still hate them. But I’ve learned to love Persona.

What the hell are going on about? I never said Thompson was right. Quite the opposite.

Making fiction out of real events is not a good thing. Not like this, at least. And we both know that there will be tons of people that don’t realize that a lot of the things in this movie are fake.

Yeah, I agree with all of that, to be honest. I never thought it was actually that bad that it was called White though, I was just pointing it out.

It’s supposed to show what happened though. That’s the point.

Eh, not really. Most of it is nothing new.

This film portrayed Jack Thompson of all people as a good person and encourages the idea that video games promote violence. That’s misinformation in my book.

Ignoring the writing, this is pretty cool. I’ve been waiting for this game.

Yeah, I get that, but besides the fact that this is often more boring, that’s not the issue I have with the film. It’s not just making it more dramatic, it’s full of lies.

To be fair, even ignoring the fact that this doesn’t fit with Ghost in the Shell, it’s pretty generic-looking.
