Are you familiar with the voting history of Iowa in recent Presidential elections? Because I’m guessing that you aren’t.

Barack Obama was much more well known, and taken seriously as a potential contender for the presidency, at the beginning of the 2008 cycle. He had been seen as a legitimate potential contender since at least his 2004 speech at the DNC, and his subsequent election to the Senate.
