If you had any concern for people as a whole you would also have some concern for the rights of minorities and therefore be inclined to devise some system whereby those minorities would be safeguarded from the tyranny of the majority.

“Fuck the idiots. That’s the only type of assholes who reside in the Hinterlands.”
“There had been movies about female superheroes before Wonder Woman—1984’s Supergirl, 2004’s Catwoman, 2005’s Elektra.”
We do treat guns like cars. You only need to register a car, get a license (with the training that entails) or have insurance if you are using your car on government property, i.e. driving on public streets. Likewise, you need a license (with the requisite training where applicable), insurance (where applicable), etc.…
“...so does your hamburger, Cheryl.”
“Even the organization that runs public transport in Berlin, the BVG, has plenty of room for improvement when it comes to issues of inequality. The Guardian reports that just one-fifth of its employees are women...”
Yeah, I’m completely unimpressed with this idiot’s “pity me” story. He wasted the “free” schooling he got through high school, wasted a few years in college until he finally wised up and started taking his education somewhat seriously and we’re supposed to feel sorry for him? No.
Max Schreck was a German actor most famous for playing Count Orlok in the film Nosferatu. Max Shreck in Batman Returns has built a giant capacitor (instead of a power plant) to suck the lifeblood (electricity) from Gotham.
Apparently Ms. Bernot (“Not only is there a novelty factor in enjoying your cocktail from a sippy cup—I was served wine in such a cup during intermission at a theater performance this winter, and it was kinda fun, in a spill-proof way—but it’s also a move that indicates the bar takes these crimes seriously.”) approves…
And, of course, there’s the pesky little detail that, legally, the receiver is the firearm. It’s the only part required to have a serial number, the only part tracked by the system, the only part you need to pass a background check to purchase.
This varies by State. Some States require private sellers to verify that the purchaser is legally allowed to own a firearm. Others do not. It’s part of the whole pesky “federalism” thing where each State actually gets to pass their own laws.
I suspect the reason gun shops refuse out-of-State IDs is because the instant check system only looks at Federal and in-State records. Texas’ instant check system has no way to check Colorado’s criminal database. So, if you present Colorado ID, you’re probably a Colorado resident, any disqualifying criminal history…
What you are describing is an interstate sale in which the buyer and seller are in different States. In that case the location of the buyer seems to take precedence. (Consider, for example, that the Jack Daniels distillery is located in a dry county and therefore cannot sell to anyone in that county, but can sell to…
You might want to check out 10 U.S. Code § 246 which defines the militia thus:
I’d also point out that almost all of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ various series are in a common universe. Tarzan goes to Pellucidar to rescue Jason Gridley. In The Moon Maid Barsoom independently invents the Gridley Wave to get into radio contact with Earth. In The Eternal Lover Victoria Custer and her brother Barney (of Th…
Cap’s argument is: “If we sign this, we surrender our right to choose. What if this panel sends us somewhere we don’t think we should go? What if there’s somewhere we need to go and they don’t let us? We may not be perfect but the safest hands are still our own. “
“...How?”
“Her therapist notes from 2012,...She would have to not only be a political hack, but a political hack with ESP to have pulled that trick off.”
Probably not. After all, according to the article you linked “The government’s definition included any discharge of a weapon at school-sponsored events or on school buses.” So a high school trap shooting club (http://www.startribune.com/high-school-trap-shooting-teams-reawaken-minn-s-aging-gun-clubs/260706411/) would…
Hi! (I’ve been working a lot lately, haven’t had much time for arguing with idiots on Kinja.)
