Is there a spare? I went weeks checking my tire pressures to later realize it was the spare that was low. Similar problem, having an extra set of wheels nearby in the garage and recalibrating the TPMS.

Also, airlines will not hire a pilot that has no ability to make Captain before he ages out.  So based on current fleet & seniority levels, pilots may need to be under 40 years old to be considered.

That is why I love happy cars.

As mentioned by hoser68, a large portion of the work force ended up retiring amid the pandemic. They’re not coming back, meaning that almost the entire workforce is made up of Gen X and Y.

Young people who research the pilot profession discover a lot of downsides most people don’t realize. I make good money as I approach retirement at one of the biggest airlines, still love flying and travelling. I’ve done well, better than most pilots. But I don’t recommend the profession to kids, including my sons.

Here’s my experience as an aircraft mechanic who graduated college in 2001. Spent 4 years and 25 grand on a degree (cheap public school) during my schooling they kept telling us there’d be a huge demand for pilots and mechanics due to retirements and wages were high. I graduated in May of 2001 and you may recall…

Senior pilots got run off by the airlines because they made too much. Then the majors subbed out their regional routes to smaller carriers like Allegiant Air to take advantage of lower-earning non-union pilots.

Hell yeah! The house next door to me went up for sale last week and was under contract in two days. I hate all my neighbors..if i could have afforded it i would have bought this house and kept it as a rental to ppl i know. Now, i just have to hope for a non-asshole neighbor.

Of course Lucid posted a loss. In no universe would a start up at Lucid’s stage be expected to be profitable. Tesla had been making cars for around a decade before it broke even.
