I meant to say that many liberal progressives are bending over backwards to excuse hateful, bigoted views and traditions of cultures they deem “oppressed”. To call this woman a hero means to excuse everything that she stands for.

That’s not how it works, and certainly not with Islam, as the Quran is the perfect word of God. You do not get to pick and choose whatever you fancy and ignore whatever you don’t, and then plead innocence when the religion you support is responsible for so much hatred and bigotry.
