@tbOwnage: Exactly. You can play games even with high voltages (like Tesla did with high-frequency AC) as long as there's no current to speak about...

Someone should force this guy to learn something about current technological possibilities, as this design is completely out of touch with reality. Or, alternatively, he could switch to designing water levelers...

@theamazingpete: If you haven't yet selected your professional calling, may I suggest you keep out of anything even remotely connected with physics (especially electronics, computers, communications, etc.) or "boring old frequencies" will haunt you for the rest of your life...

@wanderingrabbi: It's like this: they need their clear, interference free frequencies for "important" government and commercial stuff. Our shit is of no importance to them, so they stuffed us in "garbage" range of frequencies already polluted with microwave ovens and such.

@boomshadow: It has been statistically proven that 50% of all statistics are wrong. But I believe this one to be true:

Yes, people still use Ubuntu. Much, much more than Gizmodo, as you can see from Google Trends:

For crying out loud! (literally)

So what's the difference between this guy and that guy that threw a brick into washing machine?

It's not just light bulbs, most electric things tend to burn out while being turned on: TVs, computers, etc. Some say it is due to power-on stresses, but I prefer the "white smoke" theory which goes something like this:

Sometimes you can't add images, sometimes you can't edit your comments... oh, fun. Not.

Here it is spreading light echoes. Oh, Monocerotis V838, you just can't stand still for a eon or two like all other stars...

Update: it fell apart before getting to Venice...

Sounds kind of like this:

Early 2011: "The Galaxy S2 will have a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with approximately 340 pixels per inch. Also, there will be a 2GHz CPU paired with 1GB of RAM and a 4GB ROM, together with 32GB of flash storage and a microSD card slot.

Here's something to make it less frightening: imagine Rosa pronouncing the title and then imitating the laughter from "Thriller"...

Mark my words: Apple will deal with this (hardware!) problem with a simple software update. How?
