Right but I’m not really talking about difficulty or anything, I’m saying that you could actually have a more universal experience that applies to more players if you did away with traditional leveling (and implemented other things instead).

It’s locked to what it was when you killed them and they dropped the bell bearing. So if they had inventory that increased later in the game if you completed more quests/gave them spell books, it will never show up on the round table vendor.
Any killed merchant in the game can be ported to the twins at the round table. But does it mean their inventory is locked or it will get the additional items later?
Hark! somebody expressed mild displeasure with an aspect of a Souls game! Will some condescending asshole ever come to Fromsoft’s defense???
Okay, I’ll bite: why does Gostoc have this unique ability?
Alright, which NPC explains what a Tarnished is and when? I’m on NG+ so I’ll go there and check it out.
After 160 hours and beating the final boss, I should not have to turn to my computer and google “What is a Tarnished?” so...yes? I do expect the absolute bare minimum information of a story to be conveyed clearly within said story. This is not a difficult or radical ask, here.
I was showing a friend the game when I was in Stormveil and explaining the rune thing on one of my many runes back and he pointed out the math was wrong on what I lost vs what I picked back up. We paid attention to it and sure enough I’d die with like 1500 and pick back up around 1200 or so. I thought my game was…
Yeeeep. I'm a recent convert and enjoying the games, but haven't touched PVP due to shit like this.
Invaded at RL1 by the Church of Elleh and managed to intercept a Moonveil being dropped for a new player!
Ugh. Let me state that I do love most of these games, and have completed all but DS2. But something about the games, or maybe the fans, makes any criticism deflected with “git gud” or as you said, “ruining the artist’s vision”. It’s still a game. Would fixing the UI, or making it so that the open and close map button…
💯
Getting those runes back when you’d otherwise lose them decentivizes grinding
Maybe From should stop releasing Dark Souls but bigger now with 200% more reused bosses and enemies.
Tree Sentinel is probably the most obvious one, I think it’s pretty intentional that it teaches new players that not every encounter you come across has to be fought immediately.
They sold over 20 million copies of the first one which puts it on top 50 lists of best selling games of all time, so apparently they are doing something right.
Poor Guerrilla Games, they just can’t catch a break can they? First they release Horizon: Zero Dawn and a few weeks later, Nintendo releases Breath of the Wild and completely steals their thunder. Then they release Horizon: Forbidden West and a few weeks later, FromSoftware releases Elden Ring and steals their thunder…
“Ummm, AkShUaLLy a pause button would brEaK imMErSIoN and ruin the aRTIStrY of the game.”
Large portions of this review sound like sorry attempts to sell FromSoftware’s usual jank as genius game design.
Depends on the item, but it works for weapons.
