Speaking as someone who used to do the hiring, white dudes are certainly overrated.  I get more bang for my buck if I avoid ‘em.

A Honda Civic of today has better performance? Or the Honda Civic of 1978? Because the Mustang II was certainly faster than its contemporary Civic, and you don’t want to start comparing the performance of modern cars to even iconic muscle cars of the ‘60s and ‘70s because you’re going to hurt some boomer feelings.

The Flex was a great car actually. It was big enough for a whole family, had more power than it really needed out of that ecoboost, it looked pretty damn good, had AWD for snowy climates but never tried to act like it had any kind of off-road chops, and you could get a really well optioned one for under 40k.

Imagine someone in charge of fucking Warner Brothers saying animation doesn’t matter(which is basically what this preso said). It’s not quite a hypothetical new Disney CEO saying “Fuck Mickey Mouse” but it’s close.  

HBO Max is male skewing, appointment television, scripted, and home of “fandoms.” Discovery+ is female-skewing, unscripted, “lean back” comfort viewing, and home of “genredoms.” This despite more men watching Discovery+ than HBO Max and more women watch HBO Max than Discovery+.

Too bad they didn’t cover the part where, apparently, he hired nothing but white guys for executive positions after the merger.

Gotta love how Batgirl was canned to “protect the DC brand” when Ezra Miller has done more damage, especially to the Flash, than the Batgirl movie would ever do.

Yeah, him stroking out on the witness stand would have been the perfect ending.

I think that’s why it’s so funny.

Discovery took on a load of debt in the merger - I think it was like $30-40 billion. Discovery shows are cheap, HBO shows are expensive, so they’re pinching pennies and dumping salaries to try and look like they’re profitable. It’s pretty terrible. Like, why buy WB/HBO if you’re just going to try to make it like…

Because the guy making these decisions was the CEO and president of Discovery, Inc., before the merger? 

also it’s fucking crazy that you can direct the biggest box office hit of 2020 AND a hit streaming show for disney+ and still have absolutely no leverage to get your movie even dumped out without promo.

i posted this on the other one, but it rules that the SEC is so lax you can just do the producers for real now. more financial incentive to not release a movie than to release it, great for filmmakers and movie fans alike.
