I would see it, but it would induce rage within me. Then I would have no choice but to beat Penn over the head with the book “Bob Honey Who Just Do Stuff” and its inexplicable sequel.

I remain convinced that West is just a retro-minded hack with great taste. House of the Devil disappointed me hard. Looks terrific, but the story is little more than a series of homage-y plot points stitched end to end—practically a Madlib rather than a script. X was better, but I wouldn’t say I was clamoring for it

Which is why the best response to anyone in this situation is to be like Allison Williams, and not like Gwyneth:  just simply own it.  Your experience and struggles are still there and valid, they just are not in the same league as the non-connected.

From your lips to the old Democrat guard’s ear. I fear we’re stuck with Biden until he literally keels over.

I like to think people were intimidated into giving him what he wanted bc they saw the creepy torture chair scene in Star 80

Rude? Nah, not rude at all. I know you’re involved in the movies, or at least sincerely interested in them (which, you know, is sometimes a bit of a rarity around here.

I agree. It’s wildly overrated, mainly because Ledger’s performance — though kind of a Hannibal Lector riff in a lot of ways — is so propulsive it leaps straight over most of the sophomoric clunkiness and gaping plot holes.

I feel like Upstart Crow makes a very deliberate joke of the anachronism in and of itself, and the problem with a show like this one, in contrast, is that it can’t quite make a joke about it because it also has to be a “cool” romance, i.e. something aspirational that you *want* to imagine yourself into. Have you ever seen Rothrock in “The Inspector Wears Skirts”? I have a soft spot for that one.

“They deserve toeless appetizers!”

What is funny about all this is that it ignores the fact that it’s quite common for people to go into the “family” business. Sure some people have ambition to not do what their parents do but for many it just makes sense to do the same job.

Yeah, I always felt bad for Jane Grey. From the historical accounts I've read though, there was no way Grey would've ever converted. I'd hope not, but I wonder if she would've been as fanatical about Protestantism as Mary had been about Catholicism, had she been allowed to rule longer.

Execs who hired him got to eat Danny Kaye’s cooking. Execs who wouldn’t had to eat the Swedish Chef’s cooking.

And how many times do we have to tell AV Club writers that there's always MONEY IN THE BANANA STAND?!

While eating cheese puffs! They better be TOP-NOTCH!

Kevin Costner trusts exactly one filmmaker with his biggest ideas: Kevin Costner

That was also one of Patrick Stewart’s first films (and while HBC’s first released film, it was actually her second film she shot).

Oh I didn’t realize, that makes sense.

“I just read the greatest screenplay ever written!”
“Oh yeah? Who wrote it?”
“I did!”

It’s going to be big and dumb, but I have severe doubts about the third thing. For one, it’s a video game adaptation. Those never go well.
