I was and remain slightly perturbed that Hangman’s Joke, based on what little we get in the film, was more emo alt-rock than goth industrial. Given Draven's transformation I would have preferred his band to sound like NIN.

Just watched the recent 4k anniversary release. It's a damn near perfect flick.
The remake also seems to be cribbing from some very obvious influences. The Wick vibes are hardcore. The original was influenced like anything else but you had to be slightly more savvy to catch it.
Honestly no. The movie is amazing. The soundtrack IS where it's at, though, agreed.
Very illuminating.
Counterpoint: No. And fuck off.
I'm curious who you think "they" are.
Interviews. Articles on film sites. Being a writer myself. Working in the Story Dept at Sony for a number of years (I didn’t deal with auteurs personally but I read their drafts). Dealing with writer-directors, many of whom started out as actors or have done a bunch for their buddies. Granted, those experiences have…
Speculation on my part BUT if I had to guess I would bet on the pregnancy and some of the more overt family stuff being down to Johnny K. He seems very tradbro in that way.
IIRC it was a repeat entry on The Black List. Which isn't a guarantee of anything, especially now that it has mutated into an industry entity, but gives weight to its reputation.
Even Affleck and Damon is an iffy case. It has long been suspected that William Goldman, who has been credited and self-proclaimed as a “consultant”, actually wrote the bulk of Good Will Hunting. How much truth is there to that? I dunno. And Affleck has shown some skill since then (although as CineCraft mentions about…
Krasinski has long suffered the delusional self-confidence that infects many an actor turned auteur: that he can write. This was not helped, I suspect, by his rewriting of what (by reputation) was already a very solid A Quiet Place script. Many actors turned filmmaker are competent visualists but it’s rarer to find…
He’s got some mild nationalist/militarist leanings, some mild tradcon “kids are everything” leanings. I don’t love how centrist middle-American White Guy he comes off frequently. But he also has a reputation for being a sweet and funny guy. I think he IS likeable but that is/has been slightly eroded over time.
Yes, let’s.
You could start by recognizing that two paragraphs, one of which is just quoting from a fictional character, is not a glib comment. And that my response wasn't directed at your "humour" but rather at the premise of said "humour". Joke all you like!
To be fair, I lean more hyperbolic in my online speech than I am IRL. My feelings generally are the same, just usually less harsh. In truth I do appreciate the usefulness of art therapy, I just think that mass media narrative art is a really stupid avenue to practice art therapy, in part because it forces others to…
But you see my point, right? Your post blames Fuller for all his projects having issues but The Munsters had nothing to do with him. Universal changed their mind after he made the pilot, which did see air and got decent reviews. And then they gave the property to Zombie for a DTV movie on the cheap that got critically…
But he isn’t.
Oh FFS, they include a link to the Variety story that poo-poos it. The legal system appears to be poo-pooing it. The fact that they brought it up AT ALL when they very much didn’t need to is sufficient, is it not? If anything comes of it I’m sure they’ll post that, too. But right now nothing HAS come of it so frankly…
Counter-point: I very much do want that.
