The more likely scenario is that TV writers who are trying to wring a season’s worth of material out of a small town setting throw in malls, TV stations, and multiple bars as a matter of narrative convenience. Not saying that’s a better reason necessarily but it’s less not knowing about small town demographics than

Him eating a banana for the sake of his wife and the girls is also pretty great.

And continued getting cast or offered roles as a high schooler. Because she looks like a high schooler. The claim that she’s ONLY offered high schoolers because of her resume ignores this fact. (I’m not arguing that her resume is NOT a factor, just that it’s not the reason this article seems to forward.)

Good lord, Mark Bankston just must be so... f’ing... tired of the same kind of dipshit defendants and their attorneys. So much of this sounds almost exactly like the Jones trials.

Maybe it was your attitude?

This is not a criticism at all so I hope it isn’t taken as such.

So I disagree here but you’ve made a compelling point and I appreciate that.

hahaha... that was aimed at Dino, not you. But you took shrapnel, sorry.

Setting aside my contention that Pearl doesn’t shine a light on *anything* because we learn all of the relevant information about her from X, if you look at how the movie treats the older couple, particularly the sex scene, it felt to me like the movie was consistently implying that age itself made them monstrous.

Ehhhh... I dunno, I think it’s oddly conspicuous in your rundown of the thematic elements of X that you don’t mention the weird age shit. I’ve heard and found relatively compelling some arguments that X wasn’t as ageist as I initially felt on first watch but I DID get that feeling and I think it’s a fairly significant

For the purposes of the point I was making does it really matter? I’m all for accuracy and I totally get wanting to credit the man’s work properly but my POINT was to both admire Memento and be snarky about the cult of Nolan, which fuck me, maybe I poked that bear by daring to not credit Following as his debut? I

Yeah, it definitely seems like a “We’re keen to do it but Apple has to sign off” situation from everyone involved.

I think “isn’t a half bad actor” is doing a lot of heavy lifting there.

Hoo boy. So... Yes and no. I only got through a few episodes. NWR is obviously well known for his... let’s call it glacial pacing. I find that pacing generally compelling or at least endurable in his films. In a TV show it’s much harder to take. I liked Copenhagen Cowboy but that show also had a fair bit of blatant

I agree. I love Drive as well but the undercutting of machismo in OGF aligns strongly with my own feelings about masculinity.

Keaton was great because he was unexpected.

If Wolf Like Me is anything to go by you’ve got a chance!

*sigh*

The site is *really* going all-in on The People’s Joker, huh?

No, you’re right. They should make a Ghost Rider movie featuring Jon Bernthal as the Punisher and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine because Marvel Hearts of Darkness happened.
