Fuck this idiot.
Fuck this idiot.
Agreed. I like the crew behind it and love Patton but bounced hard off of MODOK. I think anything that tries the Venture Bros "What if comic book characters but domestic banality?" thing is bound to put me off. Publick and Hammer perfected the form.
“I enjoyed it” does not mean it’s “compelling”. Deadpool is fun but not particularly clever or interesting. I don’t give a shit about She Hulk, I just don’t think Deadpool is any kind of measuring stick. Unless you’re measuring fun. But you were trying to make a qualitative argument and your argument “ain’t it”
“It was bad writing when the traumatized rape victim with a family history of psychopathy whose brother sold her off had a miscarriage that she projected onto three human-devouring monsters on a quest for global domination under an egomaniacal savior complex turned all Bad Guy!”
No. There's a whole thread of them. Regular commenters.
Their complaint also ignores the fact that just because there’s no IMMEDIATE aftermath it somehow means there never will be. Insisting that nobody held her accountable ignores the fact that the show ends before any kind of formal inquiry would have started. The character was INTRODUCED in a movie that involved…
The fake out with Pietro was an amazing troll of idiot fanbois who desperately want everything Marvel to be chock full of easter eggs and continuity. I loved it.
Hellstrom was always an odd choice for adaptation as even the comics aren’t entirely consistent in how they want to treat the character. I got into the character when he had a very brief 90s run. You know, when Marvel panicked over the popularity of the Vertigo titles and tried desperately to shore up its horror…
I don’t think the Deadpool callout is the win you think it is.
And like the Danny “heel-turn”, it was telegraphed well in advance of everyone who seems to mistakenly think it was out of nowhere. Or have people forgotten that Wanda and her brother started out in the MCU as dangerous antagonists? People who complain about these character turns seem to have not watched the shows…
Came to the comments just to see how consistent certain people are. And sure enough, there they are, shit-talking Bethesda. Never change, naysayers.
Maybe don't rent videos from Cliche Warehouse? The genre is broader than you're describing.
Except there are any number of more traditional comedies on the air/streaming. This is not what comedy shows look like. This is what *some* comedy shows look like. It's a bigger field than these awards imply.
I’d like them to explain why they, and not the superior Reservation Dogs, got nominated. I like The Bear a lot but it can't touch Res Dogs.
Some of these folks just seem to conflate "comic relief" with "comedy". They aren't the same.
I’m all for a reconsideration of the categories and the conversation about formats but I am not on board for the pretentious bullshit variety of rhetoric ie: “reflect the mess of being human blah blah blah, these ideas are outdated blah blah blah”. Fuckin get over yourself, Moss-Bachrach.
Yes, again, I agree with you that people get lulled into bad impressions of how these systems work by the shows based on those systems. But again that’s not the fault of the format. The format is tied to the issue but is not the cause.
The answer to “should” in every Comedy category is “Reservation Dogs”. It’s legitimately fucking ridiculous what and who are nominated in those categories *instead* of the best TV show of the last 5 years. I said the same thing in the article last year when the nominees were announced. UGH. Such bullshit.
Barry’s last season was 1000x more of a Drama than Succession. Even The Bear is more of a Drama. But AFAIK it’s up to the shows themselves to decide the category for submission.
First, that’s a fair complaint about procedurals and their outsized influence on culture. But you’re blatantly ignoring the half of the equation that is the audience. It isn’t the fault of the format that people don’t separate their fiction from reality. I agree that it’s an issue, I just don’t think you can lay it…
