Mild brag: I’m friends with the screenwriter and helped workshop the script.

👍

Work on your reading comprehension. The YUCKING OF THE YUM was unnecessary. That yucking was not the opinion. It’s not an opinion to question someone’s enjoyment of a thing. And you’ll notice, if you continue to read the exchanges I had with Jerykk, that they copped to copping the attitude.

I think if you combine the timing of Wednesday’s second season shooting schedule with Ortega’s new position as producer there’s a good chance she actually didn’t *want* to do the next movie and used this contract negotiation as a way out. If the producers cave she gets a nice payday along with greater negotiating

I would say it certainly didn’t hurt. But “because of”? Not particularly, no.

This is my disgust with all the legacy franchise legal battles. Why the fuck do we care about the rights to Jason fucking Voorhees with the possible exception of ancillary rights? I’m all for the F13 video game. I had a lot of fun with it. But I don’t need new stories featuring that character. The remake was actually

I did but admittedly wasn’t impressed so kind of forgot most of what happened. That said, I stand by the fact that Campbell is the foundational performer of the franchise and shouldn’t be a comparison point for Ortega. I do think homerbert brings up a good point in the demographic appeal of Ortega and it’s impossible

Like I said, I think you’re mostly right and your reasoning is sound.

Starring Kevin Sorbo and Gina Carano?

I don’t inherently disagree. BUT. I do find some relief in the idea that anyone is consuming their media with that much critical thought. Weird and silly though it might be, it’s *at least* media literacy.

Not sure which one I would prefer: Win a Date with Tad Hamilton Hahn or Parks & Rec Hahn. On the one hand: tattoos. On the other: Type A energy.

Given how aggravating all the synergy bullshit is around these Marvel IP shows and movies I really enjoyed it. And I delight in anyone’s pissiness about it. Did you feel teased? GOOD. I hope it annoyed you and everyone else who gives a shit about all the interconnected nonsense.

No, I said that the aggression was unnecessary. And it was. “I hope that the show takes cues from Megaton because I like Megaton” was followed up with “Why? Megaton is stupid.” That was not necessary. The rationale for why Megaton doesn’t work is pretty well argued. But it didn’t need to happen at all. “I like a

I definitely did that and said that.

Again, I don’t disagree with any of that. Totally reasonable.

Well obviously I meant the bump on MY head.

There’s no point saying “probably” anything since the situation was that the ACTUAL central lead got fired. That’s not a situation of having earned the spot through any kind of narrative OR popularity. That’s happenstance.

And yet still not foundational the way Campbell is. So again it’s not a fair comparison.

I mean.... Yes, pay these actors what they’re worth but it’s not fair to compare Ortega’s situation with Campbell’s. Neve Campbell was the hero of the franchise. It *originated* with her. Ortega is a bigger name now than she was but her character was in ONE entry. And wasn’t even the central protagonist.

Sure, those are reasonable responses. Not the initial one, which was in direct response to someone saying “I hope there’s something like Megaton in the show.” You immediately and unnecessarily and aggressively yucked a yum.
