Think you’ve accurately described it overall

This game looks like style over substance.

There’s no way they paid Hale 4k, she’s union and extremely experienced, she could basically name her own price. Kamiya in his typical asshole fashion is just saying Taylor is lying without any facts. This is Platinum lowballing the fuck out of Taylor expecting to get away with it because she’s non union and hoping

can’t wait for the chodes to all rush in defending billion dollar corporations paying their talent poverty peanut wages.

Some things to take away from this a little bit extra:

It’s funny to think about how we have documented evidence that for at least the last several thousand years, older generations have always complained about younger generations being ignorant and not having any skills. It’s weird how they’re always wrong.

There’s a worrying lack of perspective on this in some of the subreddit comments too. There are people very bitter that their ships have been nerfed and now they have “years of hard work wasted”.

“So, test group, you all like FF7, would you like a free battle royale game that takes place in Midgar?”

Keep beating that dead horse buddy. This argument has been laid to waste time and time again. Video games never been more profitable. Higher price tags will not translate into less corner cutting or better working conditions for devs, only more money for the publishers.

It’s Like Next-Gen Monster Hunter,

That’s a straw man. Being worried about cheating and pulling out of matches based on suspicion with no evidence that someone might be cheating are two very different things. Magnus is being criticised for the latter, not the former.

i think it is very reasonable to be very worried about cheating in chess, a game in which cheating is in fact a known large problem...

Remember kids, hacking is cool until it happens to you.

Super insightful post dude, I’m going to try to touch on this:

Just an observation: Rockstar and Ubisoft games routinely present hackers as the heroes of the story. Now both companies get hacked and the teenage alleged hacker is being presented as a villain. Will we ever see a game developer presented as the villain for luring kids into becoming hackers and ruining their lives as

I have bought and played this game and forgot it came out this year.

The fuck does this have to do with anyone’s ego?  If I had a few million in the bank, I’d also probably want to get into funding cool projects.  If you watch his more serious review videos, it’s obvious he’s got a keen critical eye, and obviously has a ton of experience figuring out what makes games fun, so this seems

...that reads as inflated ego? He thinks he can help, he’s trying to help. Helping. If it crashes and burns at least he’d have done more than any of us have ever done.

Really looking forward to this one. Partially because I do wonder how they will appproach the fact that the story is an inherent tragedy. It’s playing a game where Basim will lose himself, his mind taken over by Loki, which is a really intriguing concept and a very different kind of narrative experience.
