First thing that pops into my head when I think about the show.

Probably a good move for Paramount, not just to get M:I away from Bond and Star Wars, but in the very probable likelihood Terminator falls flat on its face and they have one summer hit.
Gotta love Ollie and John's expressions when Supes asks what Kara's new boy is like.
Episode's a classic just for Charles Bronson as Andy Griffith.
PE probably is Mann at his most cinema verite. Definitely agree that rewatches improve the film. The cinematography and lighting is among Spinotti's best even if the camera's tech is showing it's age at times. Like collateral some of those shots couldn't be done with film.
No problem. I can see fair criticisms in all that. Definitely agree about Crudup. It's hard to describe but he really nailed Hoover as a petulant child.
Only saw it on TV, but Kilmer's "This is it. That moment they told us in high school where one day, algebra would save our lives," cracked me up.
Maybe not that scene but definitely at the beginning when Dillinger's mentor dies. I remember watching it PE in theaters and thinking "where have I heard that before" before it hit me.
Kinda both. Bale really wasn't the right choice (much too intense for a southern gentleman), and Purvis was kinda boring in real life. Thing is Dillinger wasn't really that interesting either. I think the movie tried to point out their associates were far more interesting but it didn't completely work.
I'm in the same boat as you. I'm thinking about getting Resident Evil for ps4 this weekend but it seems like it's gonna be on plus within six months.
What did you hate so much just wondering? Seems like we've agreed on other things before so it'd be nice to see another viewpoint.
Admittedly Mann used an already past its prime Sony making this, and technically the movie's max resolution is only ~1920x800 (due to the scope ratio). I think it's fine for the most part, but there are definitely some shots that look off.
It makes a little sense if you think Hanna snorted a line beforehand.
That's fine, a half-evaporated puddle of water has more depth than you :)
The blu-ray actually has some decent historical features that show where the movie erred. One of the few pop-up trivia features that's actually informative.
I think Mann said in the commentary he had to get rid of Dillinger's accomplices somehow while having a decent dramatic pay-off.
It was basically an assassination. Hoover had been embarrassed too many times and just wanted Dillinger dead.
I can understand that. Did you read the book before watching? It's much more epic in scope and pretty much says Dillinger was a small timer, but Hoover needed a scape goat of sorts to go after after being humiliated in DC one too many times. The movie didn't go too much into Hoover's control of the media outside the…
Good movie, and it works surprisingly well as a Michael Mann greatest hits compilation, from the opening "1933" that's taken from Mohicans to lawyers commanding the courtroom like Insider. Almost everything he's been involved with gets a shout out.
Gonna try to clear my back catalog. Playing infamous 2 on ps3 and other games I got for free through ps+.
