the reason is simple. hot donuts. very few places sell fresh out of the oven donuts like Krispy Kreme does because the effort required to do it just isn’t feasible for a small mom and pop shop. you can’t put the genie back in the bottle either as reheating a cooled glaze donut just ruins it.
