I agree that feature updates should be every 12 months instead of every 6. However the comparison with Apple isn’t very relevant - they have total control over the hardware fleet whereas Microsoft is pushing updates to machines made by many different OEMs (not to mention custom built devices).

Yeah, that has NOT been the case for the last year. How many times did they push out 1809 and then pull it back when it broke things? This CPU spiking crap costs me a lot of development time because my laptop (2019 Thinkpad, quad-core i7, 16GB RAM and a discrete Nvidia GPU) locks up for five minutes at a time or more,

If there’s some reason why you don’t want to move, don’t move. But yikes to this overwrought reaction and judgmental/transactional approach to a small request for a little help.

We rarely know everything behind a stranger’s situation. Maybe she had a death in the family and booked last-minute tickets to attend the funeral. Maybe another family member just called to say they’re suicidal or in desperate medical condition, and she dropped everything and booked the only seats she could grab.

Dear Microsoft
We, the users, have learned long ago a term - If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it. This is to say - we do not want updates installed automatically on machines that are working just fine. Your forced updates cause issues disrupting our lives having to watch yet another progress bar get painted on our screens

There’s a door between the US and Canada?

I get the idea of calling folks on being pretentious, however dumbing down your language skills so you don’t appear to be elitist is short-minded. Yes some people get offended because I use words they don’t understand but this in English and not everything needs to be expressed solely in lyrics from a country or rap

Or, just be like me, and die when you encounter anyone.

Effective.  Also, it requires no action on the part of the player base or the developer.  I see this as an absolute win.

Damn.  Should have let them learn this the hard way.

Cars have been going downhill ever since Charles Kettering invented the electric starter. Are you all so lazy you can’t get out and hand crank your engine in the morning? Plus now there batteries that can go dead and wiring that can corrode. A whole slew of new issues that ‘solves’ a non-existent problem.

So no one has had full hands before and had to fumble around with keys & other crap while trying to unlock the door? I think we all have.

Why did Lifehacker switch from putting the subject in the heading to labeling everything as “This such-and-such”? In the ‘good old days’, the headline would’ve read SnoozeYouLose Gives You an Extra Incentive to Skip The Snooze Button. I liked it better that way.

Why didn't I think of this business model? People literally paying you to keep track of their own poor choices. It's brilliant.

Moments like these I just would like to say f#ck Apple for ruining the headphone industry. I guess I’ll keep my S9 for a VERY long time.

You have the craigslist archive link for that listing? Asking for a friend.

I just want to know when I can get notification lights again on my S10+ without having to hack together five different 3rd Party Apps...

I think it’s common sense not to let anything dirty spread to your open wounds. Let’s be honest, the question here isn’t “is it safe to let dogs lick you?” it’s “is it safe to expose your open wounds to bacteria?” and the answer is, obviously, no.

More meaningful to me than 0-60 or lateral g’s or stopping distances.

It should be rephrased "Those who do not give a fuck (about other people's negative judgements but do give very many fucks about everything else especially hard work, attention to detail, organisation, motivation and growth) change the world."
