One of the first things I do, is unplug the phone before I go to sleep in a hotel. I've been woken up a few times in the middle of the night by stupid people - wrong numbers and such. This probably takes care of those credit card problems as well.

One thing that's been working for me when I can't go back to sleep soon, is to try to keep my eyes open instead of closed. For some reason, closing my eyes makes it harder to go back to sleep. I have my room almost completely dark like 99% - just very slight leakage from the window curtains.

I got malware by updating "File Menu Tools", a Windows Explorer addon, which I've used forever. I had BitDefender installed and active but it didn't really detect or block the malware. I've ditched BitDefender. These nasties are getting smarter and eviller.

If anything there should be a tax break for telecommuters and companies that offer telecommuting. Telecommuters cause less pollution, reduce traffic and use less resources.
