Things in Australia are a little different. You need 120 hours, and your test requires a “low speed maneuver” - either a 3 point turn or parallel park. Unsurprisingly, the 3 point turn is far easier, and a lot of manual learners fail on the parallel park if they get one.

Come oooon good physics

Australia is weird with indicators. It’s on the right of the steering wheel for Japanese and Australian cars, but “European” cars have them switched. My Nissans and my mother’s Commodore have all been regular, but my girlfriend’s BMW and (curiously) brother’s Focus had them swapped.

Barely streetable? The Veyron isn’t some stripped out racer, it’s exactly the opposite. It’s extremely streetable.

With a billion horsepower to just 2 wheels, surely it could squirm around with ease even on brand new rubber

It’s nice to think that the #manualmasterrace are immune to this sort of thing. But it’s just not true. As a manual driver, I’ve texted and driven (haven’t we all done it at least once?). Because even in a manual, the majority of the drive is not spent shifting gears.

I’m also halfway through and can confirm.

Common does not make it right, a lot of racist terms were once common. I think this is a pretty mild one. But you’re right, it’s not flattering and it’s not PC.

Really? It’s such a common term, I’ve never heard anyone question it.

I think those headlights are a bit too upright and far forward. And the intakes at the front look funny. And those side vents behind the wheel are weird.

Exciting rwd car* from Toyota and Subaru

There’s something so great about listening to a man froth over something that really gets him going. My dad does the same thing for trains.

That is very tempting, there’s probably not a lot of depreciation happening for such a revered car. I just don’t really want to drop that much on a car unfortunately. Been looking at an MR2 to fill the void.

I think you could say the same about many Japanese cars from the 90s. Where did the Autozam AZ-1 come from? The Toyota Sera? And the ones we did see coming (RX, Supra, Z) were so far above their 80s counterparts it was ridiculous.

I know just what you mean. Convertibles get a bad rap for being soft and wallowy. But the S2000 was made that way and made to be stiff at the same time. My 300ZX is similar - almost all of them are T-tops and it’s only because they made it stiff. The Supra targa on the other hand is a different kettle of fish.

Fair enough. I haven’t driven either. I sat in an S2000 a week or two ago, that’s as close as I’ve been able to get.

Now playing

There’s a guy who usually races his Gallardo at some tarmac rallies in Australia. One year it caught fire. Didn’t stop him.

To each his own. The 430 always came across as bland to me, but I love the 360.

I’m so glad they called it an EVOLUTION. I feel like Evolution was never supposed to be reserved for just Lancers, and in a perfect world we’d still have LanEvos, PajEvos and probably a ColtEvo to compete in WRC now that the Lancer is too big.

As long as the R’s around, and as long as it’s more powerful and not really that different, does it really matter what the most powerful GTI ever is?
