This is completely incoherent. So, PP is needlessly linking him with the anti-abortion movement, but he is a “messenger” of those ideals? And protesters should always be peaceful, but this guy killed and injured people? And he’s *not* a protester?

Wow, I remember when you were just a really funny/awesome commenter here. This is making me feel weirdly emotional!! You will be sorely missed.
That seems unfair. This is a boring art project, there’s no reason to pathologize it/make it about mental illness.
I’m not OP but my undergrad degree is in film, and I had multiple professors who hated his work. These were people who had studied and worked in film for years. There’s no rule that says everyone has to admire Tarantino or acknowledge that he’s a great filmmaker.
I think “illegals” connotes the same kind of feeling as “jews” or “blacks”- its dehumanizing in a way that ____ person/people is not. As for “illegal immigrant” instead of “undocumented immigrant,” I think it makes sense insofar as it feels wrong to call children and (essentially) refugees illegal people.
what a weird thing to say
you better be jewish ;) you must be if you know cel-ray, lol
I appreciate the utility/ingenuity of this, truly. I guess I’m just really sad at the idea of always wearing a device like this? Or even for nights out or whatever. It’s the same feeling I have about the “rape nail polish” or the chastity belt-like underwear that came out last year. Even with the absolute best of…
They’ve set the bar so low, I feel like we can do more than step over it??
I thought Bridesmaids was fun but I’m really bored of these grossout lady comedies being sold as progressive, empowering stories. Not even necessarily by the ads, but by friends/acquaintances and thinkpieces. I know this just makes me seem like a killjoy but I just don’t get what’s so funny about pubic hair and…
We as a society have a duty to protect the people we incarcerate while they’re under a prison or jail’s care. I support any and all measures to end sexual violence in prisons. And I think it’s logical to assume that a trans woman in a man’s prison is far more vulnerable to rape than an entire woman’s prison would be…
Did you find anything to support your belief that trans women are rapists?
a cursory google search will tell you that trans women are disproportionately victims of sexual violence, particularly while incarcerated, and that they’re far more likely to be victims than perpetrators. Just like other women!
You’re intent on making everything I say seem like an outrageous reach, fine. I was obviously reacting to the tone of what you said, which was in essence “Why is everyone equating sympathy with excuse???? DUH they’re different!!” When it comes to sensitive or fraught issues, phrases that feel like no-brainers to some,…
Thanks. I ultimately still disagree, because I think this totally divorces peoples discomfort from its cultural context. People view the lives of disabled kids differently than able-bodied/neurotypical kids, and that manifests in a lot of ways. You’re entitled to express your sympathy and concern for all parties, and…
Yeah, and they also posted a link to dozens of examples of parents murdering their disabled kids. There are lots more out there too. They were probably angry? Empathy isn’t a zero sum game, but I don’t blame people for finding the sympathy rhetoric a little loaded, especially when it doesn’t come up in most other…
Honestly, I think that’s a really unfair characterization of OP’s comments. There is undoubtedly a trend of mentally and physically disabled children being more vulnerable to abuse and death by their parents and caregivers. I don’t think a stronger health care safety net is going to solve that problem outright. They…
I understand where you’re coming from, insofar as disabled lives are seen as inherently less important or valuable by most of society. I remember seeing articles about a woman who murdered her violent autistic child, and many of the comments were saying something to the effect of “it’s horrible and wrong but I get why…
1. OP may not believe that missing 19 games equals a real punishment. Or, they didn’t know. Either way, you being so hung up on that detail says a lot about your priorities!
Eh, that’s all jargony nonsense. It’s no more legally binding that when people post those absurd “I DO NOT GIVE FACEBOOK PERMISSION TO USE MY INFORMATION...” form letters on their newsfeeds.
